Aircraft safety demonstration: how future cabin crew prepare

Before take-off, cabin crew explain the main safety instructions to passengers. Behind these gestures lie preparation, practice and careful communication.
But how do you learn to perform a safety demonstration? In this video from Pro Fly Academy, one of our students practises in the classroom in front of her classmates, learning one of the most recognisable aspects of a cabin crew member’s role.
The demonstration, shared on Instagram, reached more than 500,000 views, introducing many people to a moment from our training in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

What is a safety demonstration for?
A safety demonstration helps passengers understand the safety instructions and equipment available on board. It is more than a sequence of movements: each gesture must be visible, clear and coordinated with the instructions.
In the video, the student practises presenting familiar items of aircraft safety equipment, including the seat belt, oxygen mask and life jacket.
This classroom exercise is a step in the learning process, helping her develop accuracy and become familiar with the equipment.
Learning to communicate with passengers
Knowing how a piece of equipment works and demonstrating how to use it are two skills that need to be practised together. During a demonstration, future cabin crew members must pay attention to their posture, the clarity of their gestures and the pace of their delivery.
Practising in front of classmates helps students become more comfortable and confident. Watching their classmates also provides an opportunity to learn and reflect on their own performance.
Practical training brings the topics covered in lessons to life.
Safety at the heart of the profession
Cabin crew are known for welcoming passengers and providing service on board, but safety is a fundamental part of their training.
A classroom demonstration offers an initial insight into this responsibility. Behind a gesture that may look simple are attention, method and the ability to communicate important information.
Our student’s video captures exactly that: a moment of learning and preparation for her future career.
