The Cabin Crew Attestation (CCA) Explained

If you're wondering what the Cabin Crew Attestation is, it's the official aeronautical qualification established by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) under regulation EU 290/2012. The CCA certifies that its holder has completed the mandatory cabin crew initial training required to work on commercial aircraft.

This certification replaced older national certificates across Europe (like Spain's former TCP), creating a single unified standard. Any airline operating flights within or from the European Economic Area must employ only cabin crew holding a valid Cabin Crew Attestation.

The CCA is not airline-specific — it is issued by a national aviation authority (in Spain, AESA) and is portable across all EASA member states. This means you can work for any European airline without retraining or additional certification.

To obtain the Cabin Crew Attestation, you must complete an approved cabin crew course (EASA Part-CC) at an authorized training organization like Profly Academy. The training covers safety procedures, emergency equipment, first aid, firefighting, water survival, and crew resource management.

International Validity

The Cabin Crew Attestation is recognized across the entire European Economic Area and beyond, making it the most versatile cabin crew qualification available:

All 27 European Union member states
Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland (EFTA)
Non-European airlines with bases at European airports
Airlines worldwide that follow EASA standards

Your CCA never expires as long as you maintain recent experience (at least one flight per year) or undergo recurrent training. Airlines provide this as part of employment, so once you start working, your attestation remains valid indefinitely.

CCA vs. National Certificates: What Changed?

Before 2012, each European country had its own cabin crew certificate (Spain had the TCP - Titulo de Tripulante de Cabina de Pasajeros). These national certificates were not mutually recognized — if you trained in Spain, you couldn't automatically work in Germany or France.

The EASA regulation EU 290/2012 created the Cabin Crew Attestation as a pan-European standard. Since its implementation, the CCA is the only valid qualification for cabin crew in Europe. All previous national certificates like the Spanish TCP, Italian AV, or French CCA have been superseded.

This change benefits aspiring cabin crew enormously: one qualification, valid everywhere. You train once and can apply to Ryanair, Vueling, Lufthansa, Air France, TAP, ITA Airways, easyJet, Wizz Air — any airline operating in the EASA zone.
